Imageco takes pride in being a part of our local community, and we work to make a positive impact on those around us. 4 in 10 young people report that skills and training is one of the biggest barriers to finding work. We believe in providing opportunities for young people to get their foot in the door of the print industry. Our team provides excellent apprenticeships, designed to mentor and nurture young people, upskilling them and providing a solid foundation to build their careers.
We love welcoming young people into our junior roles. With our experienced team on hand, there’s plenty of opportunity to learn and grow. The only things we can’t teach? A can-do attitude, curiosity, and a real team spirit!
Hear from our young professionals and apprentices about their journey at Imageco, their progress and how the future looks!
Even though every journey at Imageco is unique, one thing remains consistent: our team go out of their way to make newcomers feel welcome. As a young person, entering the print industry for potentially the first time can be daunting! Our values include creating a culture of positivity, working as a team of innovators, and so everyone is included!
Our workshop is a hub of inspiration, perfectly curated to encourage creative thinking and provide endless visuals to get the juices flowing! There’s an energy and buzz about the place, where our team collaborate and deliver excellent print builds, to the highest quality! For newcomers, it’s clear that this is a place where teamwork meets craftsmanship. It’s not just a workspace; it’s a place that makes you feel excited to learn, contribute, and be a part of something creative from day one.
Graphic Technician, Sam Fielding writes, “I began my journey at Imageco at the beginning of July 2023. I originally applied for the role of ‘Graphic Technician’ under the impression it was a design-based role. However, after my first visit, I found I was applying for a more practical, hands-on role. On first impressions, I really liked the look of the working environment and team spirit that was demonstrated, and so I decided to try something new.”
We cultivate an environment of growth for our team, and our young people and apprentices are no different. Our ESGmark®certification means we are committed to developing our team and helping our employees achieve their goals is a huge priority. From hands-on training to mentoring from experienced colleagues, we make sure that everyone has the support they need to grow both personally and professionally.
Print Finisher, Joe, joined our team with no print experience, just a fantastic work ethic! He describes his growth and progress in the year he’s been with Imageco: “I’ve developed stronger technical skills in print production processes, improved my knowledge of sustainable materials, and learned how to operate advanced printing equipment.”
Isabel Shanahan has certainly made her mark in the Imageco team, starting with us as a Junior Mac Operator, and progressing into a Project Coordinator! She describes the skills and improvements she’s made at Imageco:
“As an Artworker it was crucial for me to develop my computer skills. I began to practice using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop using online tutorials, at first finding it completely impossible and wondering what on earth I’d got myself into! Though I was completely out my depth at first, I knew I had to persevere in order to succeed. As a result of my hard work and persistence, I am now able to use these computer programmes confidently without hesitation. My skills have noticeably improved to the point where I’ve earned the responsibility of working with some huge clients!”
Since joining Imageco, our young team members haven’t just learned the ropes, they’ve stepped up, taken on challenges, and brought fresh energy and ideas to everything they do. Whether it’s contributing to complex print builds, offering creative solutions in the workshop, or going above and beyond on projects, their hard work and dedication have already made a real difference.
As they settle into the sector, they’ve made incredible progress, uncovering their passions and honing their unique skills. Their achievements reflect not only their own hard work and curiosity but also the supportive, collaborative environment at Imageco, where creativity is encouraged, skills are nurtured, and everyone is given the opportunity to shine.
Print Finisher, Joe, writes, “One of my proudest moments was seeing a project for Stormzy’s football event that I had worked on fully set up on-site. It was great to know that my contributions directly impacted the final result.”
Project Coordinator, Isabel Shanahan reflects on her greatest achievements: “After winning the printing Charity’s Rising Star Award last year, I had the honour of returning this year as a judge – This was such a pinch me moment!
It’s such a privilege to be a part of an initiative that champions emerging talent in our industr,y and it was truly incredible to celebrate their achievements in a special setting such as the House of Lords.”
It’s amazing watching our young starters hit the ground running, bringing fresh ideas, energy, and enthusiasm to everything they do. They’re not just learning the ropes – they’re making waves, discovering their strengths, and leaving their mark on our projects and team. We can’t wait to see what they do next, and we know that with curiosity, creativity, and that can-do attitude, the best is yet to come!
