We were contacted by Syn Retail, a highly creative design agency based in Leeds who work with a wide range of global retail brands. They needed someone who could create a display area for Eastpak’s collaborative collection with Aries, which would accurately portray the brand identity and aesthetic. No surprise, we took on the challenge!
This was not a run of the mill job for us at Imageco. We were sent an initial concept to bring to life which included four designs by Syn. These designs were pitched to their client, who settled on the decision to go with a concept in which trolleys would be used to display the collection pieces. We then had the task of pulling the chosen concept from design page to production, and then install the displays at their London store location at 18 Montrose.
When you picture warehouse metal trollies, images that pop into your mind may be staff carting huge pallets of goods round your local supermarket. But to create a whole new aesthetic, the trollies were painted a deep shade of black that would make the clothes held within stand out. The trollies were filled with foliage, including grasses within dried oasis keeping to Eastpak’s backpacker brand roots. These were all planted into in-house painted DIBOND trays (aluminium composite sheeting).
On the Ropes
We printed a range of small OSB branded boarding which was then placed in the middle of the trollies surrounded by the foliage. Product information was also printed onto boards that were zip-tied to the side of the metal trollies. The products were displayed in the unique way of hanging them from the ceiling central to the metal trollies so they would appear to be floating within them. The products were hung utilising climbing ropes fixed into climbing clamps to, again, link back to Eastpak’s backpacker identity in a pink colour to link in the collaborative work with Aries.
Collaboration was at the heart of this project and is what brought the whole display alive in the end. Our collaboration with the design team at Syn allowed us to create a beautiful result for them, we worked closely on all aspects from beginning to end. The teams’ effort to have the pieces created and installed bang on time and to such a high standard is something to be commended. Our own Visual Merchandiser, Dulcie took charge of procuring and creating the foliage displays to deliver on the concept.
The outcome of this project was one to behold and the client was extremely pleased with the result. At Imageco, we love all projects out of the ordinary and create displays that tell a story, and we can't wait for the next one! We are specialists in bringing ideas to life.
“The team at Imageco have been great on this project. They delivered it to an exceptional standard, on budget and on time!”
