A Print Slam Dunk on the River Thames with NBA

Our part in this project was to create some huge spirit flex banners to decorate the sides of the basketball court, with the designs being provided by Hue & Cry design agency.

The designs were created to keep it simple and draw focus to the slogan on the court which read ‘The Spirit of the NBA’, with the main colourways being in black and white other than the logo print.

Giving the term wide-format print a run for its money, the banners needed for the NBA basketball court saw us creating two huge 31m X 1800m banners and two 21m X 1800m banners to line the outside.

To give this project a sustainable twist, we printed the banners on PVC free Kavlan banner material, which is also perfect for use in outdoor promotive print. Careful consideration was needed as to what materials to use for this project, with the court not only being outside, but constantly in contact with water.

All in all, the project took eight months from start to completion, but the results were a sight to behold.

A project this big required a great amount of collaborative work (or an alley-oop approach for any basketball fans out there). We couldn’t have been happier to work alongside some great companies on this project, including:

The whole team at Imageco was beyond excited to be involved in a project like this, especially some of our resident NBA fans. The court was created as the latest edition of ‘Courts Beyond Limits’, a global travelling series of projects from Hennessey and the NBA to unveil one of a kind basketball courts at iconic locations across the world.

Personally, we think the London edition has to go down as one of the best in the book, but we might be slightly biased.
