Going down to Elland Road

Leeds United

We were honoured to collaborate on the Leeds United Centenary Collection, working with Banana Kick and the Leeds United Supporter’s Trust (LUST). The Leeds United fans are some of the most dedicated in the world, so to celebrate the team’s 100th anniversary, LUST wanted to create a museum for the fans to commemorate the team’s history.

The project was very much a community effort; Banana Kick negotiated an empty unit in Merrion Centre and then created the overall design and content for the exhibition. They worked with some of the most dedicated collectors, who kindly donated thousands of pounds worth of memorabilia.

To the window, to the wall

We were tasked with creating all of the graphics and stands for the museum, first of which being the window graphics. The trust needed to promote the grand opening of the museum, so it was vital to create eye-catching graphics. We printed bold graphic designs in the Leeds United blue and covered outfacing windows to attract passers-by to attend the event. Then it was onto walls. We covered every inch of the museum’s walls with our wide format print. We printed all the wall graphics on our Hybrid Vutek as it is the most versatile printer, allowing us to print onto various materials. The wall papers were all printed in 1 piece, with the largest being 13m wide. This helped speed up the install and produced stunning seamless prints. Alongside this, every pillar in the building displayed images of legendary players. All of the iconic imagery was provided by LUST and we advised them on the best materials for each application.

Wall Graphics

Beyond print

Alongside the wide format prints, we produced various other elements throughout the exhibition. We created acrylic cases to protect the priceless memorabilia such as Gary Speeds 91/92 title winning shirt. At the entrance of the museum, we constructed a lightbox that illuminated one of Leed’s most infamous players, John Charles. We created a graphic wall to create an entrance walkway and keep the gallery’s surprises hidden. We also produced a free-standing bespoke structure to host an interactive game that guests could play to pick their favourite Leeds United Team ever. Another interactive element we incorporated was a magnetic board where visitors could write messages on individual whiteboards about their experience at the museum and attach it to the magnetic wall. Oh and we even donated a table football!

THE GRAND OPENING

With a one-week deadline and countless items to create, this was a huge project for us. Our team was on-site all week, day and night installing all of the elements to ensure it was perfect for the big opening event. We were able to print, project manage and install all designs bang on time! The opening event was a great success and even Pablo Hernandez and CEO Angus Kinnear joined in to help launch the event. Make sure to visit the museum before it’s closing date on the 24th of November. To book simply visit the Eventbrite page.
