To help put faces to the Imageco name, we’re bringing back our ‘Meet the Team’ series to introduce you to even more of our amazing members of staff! This time around we have sat down with Robert Lee our newest Account Manager so you can get to know him a little bit better.

1. Tell us a little bit about you.

I started working at Imageco in October as an Account Manager. A completely different role from my previous gig as a graphic & CAD designer. I’ve been in the print industry for 14 years; crafting cardboard POS displays for various beauty and fragrance brands. But, outside of work, you’ll find me with my wife and two young children, that is if Leeds United isn’t playing!

2. Tell us about your journey working at Imageco.

My journey at Imageco has been short but incredibly rewarding. It has opened doors to different aspects of the print industry that previous places I’ve worked at dared not venture into. This makes each day exciting and different.

3. What inspired you to get into the print industry?

Back in the day, I was really into art at school, I pursued a graphic design course at Leeds College of Art & Design. I took a detour working as a telephone system engineer for a couple of years to earn some cash. But destiny had other plans and I was made redundant. My dad then offered me a chance to do voluntary work at his workplace doing artwork. After a few weeks, I landed a full-time gig doing artwork, CAD design, and cardboard engineering.

4. What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?

I’m currently juggling various projects, but my absolute favourite is some seeding boxes we’re crafting for Dr. Martens. Each box is a black wooden soundproof shipping crate containing a personalised pair of Dr. Martens boots. It’s a departure from my usual work, and I absolutely enjoyed the challenge.

5. What’s the best thing about being in the Imageco office?

Undoubtedly, it’s the staff. They’ve made me feel welcome and at home, as if I’ve been here forever. And, of course, having fellow enthusiasts to chat about Leeds United and football is a refreshing change from my previous employment.

6. Describe your job in three words.

Different, Creative & Exciting.

7. Who would you most like to swap places with for the day?

I think it would have to be a Leeds United footballer. Experiencing what it’s like to play at Elland Road in front of 37,000 fans would be an absolute dream.

8. How do you think more young people can be encouraged to get into the print industry?

Reassurance is key. Let them know that the print trade isn’t a dying art. Despite the digital surge, there will always be a need for print.

9. What’s your go-to drink at the pub?

First choice would be a bottle of Peroni, but I’m also a fan of Spiced Captain Morgan’s rum & Coke.

10. If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

I’m not a big traveller, but a bit of sun and a swimming pool sounds much better than the winter weather we’re having at the moment in the UK!

11. And last of all, give us your best piece of advice!

You’ve always got to look out for No.1.
