Next up in our ‘Meet the Team’ series, we have Sam Pratt. He’s a core member of the team, managing the print and finishing department. A jack of all trades, he can print, fit and build incredible projects.
I would describe myself as a hardworking individual. I am a father of one lovely little boy, and I love the gym. I am partial to a tattoo or two.
I started my journey in the print industry originally as a sign fitter where I was self-employed. This is where I did some work for Imageco, fitting a few jobs and then working in-house, helping Danny in the print room. Imageco then took me on full-time where Eddie soon taught me the ropes with all the machines, and the rest is history.
I started working at Imageco around 8 years ago, when Nathan offered me a job in the print room, learning the machines. I had no prior experience of this but soon picked things up. Fast forward 8 years, and I’m now the print/ finishing manager.
I wouldn’t describe myself as a typical print manager, as the projects we create at Imageco vary so much. However, my main role and responsibilities would be ensuring all my staff know what they have to do that day, and what order to do it in. I also like to have a hands-on approach and help anywhere I can. Whether that means running machines myself or helping others on a project or build.
This is a tough question as we really do work on some seriously cool projects. We recently did some ‘Wednesday’-themed shop fit role outs for Dr Martens, which looked incredible. But also, the exhibition builds we are crafting out of Xanita are amazing! Our own exhibition stand for Event Sustainability Live recently will take some beating.
FUN, CREATIVE, STRESSFUL.
Without a doubt the best thing about working at Imageco is the people I work with! You spend more time with your work mates than you do anybody else, and the team I have around me are amazing.
I think the thing Imageco are doing better than the rest of the industry currently has to be the eco exhibitions. Some of the things we have made from Xanita is unreal and it’s all thanks to our cardboard engineer, Dean.
I think it has to be pushed into schools. When people are choosing their college, they need to see the print industry as an option they can work towards. It seems to be a sector people seem to fall into currently.
Lead by example, if I expect others to work hard, I must be doing the same myself.
