The Top 5 Ways You can Incorporate Cardboard Engineering

by Nathan Swinson-Bullough

As you might be able to tell by now, at Imageco we think Cardboard Engineering is the best thing since sliced bread. If you’re sat there thinking ‘what the heck is cardboard engineering?’, we’ve got you covered. Check out our previous blog: ‘Let’s Talk: What is Cardboard Engineering?’ for all the deets.

Now, we know it might be hard to think of how you can use cardboard engineering, but that’s what we’re here for! There are tonnes of ways you can use this new, green solution to cover all your print needs. But to get you going, we’ve pulled together what we think are the top five uses for cardboard engineering.

Event/Exhibition stands

If you’re lacking inspiration on how to use this new construction method, look no further than your next event or exhibition. When we say the possibilities are endless, we really mean it. And that’s evident from our recent work using cardboard engineering on the Antalis exhibition stand.

Stands designed by our cardboard engineer are incredibly easy to transport with them being built from flat cardboard sheets, removing the need for complex transportation methods and worries over weight limits. Not to mention, the lightweight and easy to build designs require only one or two people to put together, meaning fewer people need to travel to help build your stand.

POS

Next up, POS. Instead of unsustainable, chunky plastic POS displays in your store, imagine how great a 100% recyclable, brightly coloured and enticing display would look. We can picture it already. If you’re an eco-conscious brand, using such an eco-friendly material like our Xanita board, with its 100% repulpable inner core, could be the finishing touch to your store. Not to mention, the displays we are able to create look truly amazing.

Furniture

Now, furniture might not have been the first place your mind went when you thought about cardboard engineering. But you’d be surprised at just how strong these structures are. Structures are all designed to slot together in such a way that they can hold up a great amount of weight. We can also utilise fluted card for projects, which holds all the green sustainable benefits of other card types, but with a little added structural strength.

So why not take a seat?

Window Displays

Nothing catches the eye of passers-by quite like a good window display. Whether it’s your next big Christmas window, or a long-standing display, we can design and build features entirely made from cardboard that will draw in every person that walks by.

Our cardboard creations are so durable that they can be taken down, stored and reused. Meaning that even seasonal displays aren’t going to waste once the festive season is over.

Signage

Imagine the extra zing your signage would have if it were built in 3D? We can design and build freestanding signage and pull up banners perfect for in-store use. But that’s not all, if you’re looking for signage built for travel, cardboard engineering is the perfect solution. Our 3D pull-up banners can be dismantled and packed away to be no larger than your carry-on case. Which sounds a lot easier than hauling around clunky metal banner poles to us.

Imagine with Imageco

Taking such a humble material and producing displays of such calibre is no small feat. The tiniest mistake in print or cutting can ruin a project. That’s why we hire specialist engineers for the job, here to take your ideas from idea all the way through to build.

These are our top five cardboard engineering recommendations, but the breadth of what can be done is so much wider. If you’re interested in using cardboard engineering for your next project or want to learn more about how it can be used, don’t hesitate to get in contact
