We sat down with our newest team member David Shackleton, our Key Account Manager, to give you a proper introduction- it’s been far overdue!

Tell us a bit about yourself:

I have worked at Imageco for 18 months as a Key Account Manager – my main role is to access the types of services and products our client needs in order to ensure their projects are completed on time and within the agreed budget and to their satisfaction. These projects are as diverse as retail POS displays that require cads, metalwork, digital print elements, integral LED lighting, signage,  shopfitting elements to bespoke Hospital Art installations.

I have a degree in Textile Design and Technology specialising in knitwear, this has helped with my projects at Imageco as we create appealing solutions to clients’ needs on a variety of fabrics, furnishing materials, and solid substrates.

My previous experience includes working in the marketing and retail operations departments of a large menswear company. This gave me a thorough understanding of advertising, promotions, product launches, and store layout. I also worked as a Senior Account Manager in Design and Advertising agencies throughout Yorkshire working on accounts as diverse as automotive, online betting, retail, and finance.

Like many of the people who work at Imageco I am a big fan of the arts, I love all types of music from the Beatles to the Gorillaz and everything in between. Another thing we all have in common at Imageco is our love for Leeds United, there is no place in the world like Elland Road at 3.00 pm on a Saturday.

How does sustainability impact your life? How do you try to be more sustainable?

Like many people, I am conscious of the effects fossil fuels have on the environment so as a family we have become more efficient in planning to use the car, if the errand is within walking distance we will walk. We also use natural cleaners in the house such as white vinegar thus reducing the amount of plastic packaging we purchase. I think it’s important that as a population we reduce our need to buy new products. If there is less waste, then there is less to recycle or reuse therefore saving the volume of waste going to landfill.

Tell us your most memorable moment at Imageco

I think it was the first project I managed at Imageco, two bespoke premium pop-up stores for an Italian sportswear firm that were designed in-house, manufactured, delivered, and installed – a real root to branch project that involved input from every department at Imageco to make it happen.

Where would you most like to go on holiday?

Ibiza, a quiet little resort called San Miguel

If you could go back in time, where would you go?

I’m a massive Beatles fan so I would love to back and be a member of the audience at an early Cavern gig.

If you could invite 3 famous people to a dinner party who would it be?

Don Marcelo Bielsa, John Lennon, and Keith Haring – football, music, and art.

What is your best piece of advice to the younger generation?

Don’t fear failure – everyone who has ever accomplished things in life has had many failures along the way – Oh… And write lists!!

What have you learned since joining the Imageco team?

Great projects at Imageco are never done by one person…they are done by a team – we collaborate, we discuss and share ideas and experiences to deliver our client’s expectations.
