No Exams! It must be the best feeling in the world, or the worst, depending on your mock results. There’s hope yet though, here at Imageco we don’t look at your CV, we look at you. To find the next generation of print superstars we must dig deeper than grades. Instead, we look for people with passion, drive and determination. Self-taught work will always be more impressive than coursework, whether this is creating a design brief or building a portfolio. This type of initiative shows a willingness to work and demonstrates a good work ethic, which is exactly what we look for!
Imageco’s fearless leader, Nathan Swinson-Bullough, is a fantastic example of where hard work gets you. He was so determined to get into the print industry that he taught himself photography and graphic design. Even taking unpaid work experience at Sky Sports in London, just to build up a portfolio of skills. Everything he learnt, needed resilience and tenacity. Nathan truly believes in helping aspiring young talent;
“If I could give the youth of today one message, it’s don’t give up. You will make it.”
Our Operations Manager Ed joined us 18 years ago, as a proud 16-year-old having grown his first moustache. Ed joined us as a temp in 2002 working in packaging and then was quickly promoted to the Mac room where he worked in the digital printing department, preparing artwork for print. He is a true testament to what you can achieve if you have the right qualities and back yourself. Ed now sits at the big table as Operations Manager, quite an achievement!
Exams aren’t the be-all and end-all of life. You can achieve great things without them. Don’t just sit around making TikTok videos, wasting time in isolation. Learn another language, take up the violin, practice your skills, be the best you can be at whatever you choose!
We never turn down the right people. Just look out for our apprenticeship schemes or get in touch to find out more.
