A 2020 Round-Up

by Nathan Swinson-Bullough

Imageco Team Christmas Jumper day

What a year it has been, although it feels like we have been stuck in a perpetual loop in our very own Groundhog Day, although it is ultimately coming to a conclusion. We wanted to take this time to put all the negativity aside and focus on the good things to come out of the year.

Events

They definitely happened this year, we even managed to attend a few ourselves. A standout one was the Digital City Festival! This is one of the biggest events on the calendar and we were lucky to squeeze it in before they were cancelled nationwide in March! Here we pioneered a 100% sustainable exhibition stand, built primarily from Xanita and recyclable materials. See more of our innovations here.

Solar & Co2 Reduction

We’ve been trialing some ideas to reduce our carbon footprint, starting with our voltage optimiser, which saved a huge 26,632 kwh per year, and cut 9,363kg of Co2 per annum out of our output. Our Solar installation goes ahead in January 2021 so we will hit the ground running when it comes to reducing our Co2.

We’ve also made giant strides by partnering with carbon offsetters, Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, who plant a tree for every 10m of our recycled bottle wall covering eco wall canvas we install. We have a whole new range of sustainable products arriving in 2021 that will add to this initiative.

NHS Heroes

There’s been no escape from the challenges Covid-19 has caused this year, although one set of individuals have stepped up to the mark. Our brave health care professionals have been our lifeline, they have saved millions of lives and kept us smiling. We wanted to do more than clapping on a Thursday night though, we stopped all production and geared up to produce visors and PPE on mass, for our heroes in scrubs. With help from our generous donors, we were able to raise £5,700 to cover the manufacture of thousands of items of protective equipment, we did our bit and distributed these to the nurses and care assistants in need.  Our MD Nathan was even named as one of the 32 Covid business heroes by Business Leader for his efforts.

Staying Positive

Despite the impact of Covid-19 on our industry we have remained positive, we have seen our work published in the Australian graphics magazine Visual Impact, with recognition for our creativity and diversity.

None of this would be possible without the effort and patience of our team, they have been amazing every one of them.

A huge thank you to all our valued clients for your support in 2020. We hope you have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year and we will see you again in 2021!
