Imageco’s 2022 Print in Review

by Nathan Swinson-Bullough

2022 in sparklers

We’ve steamed so quickly into 2023 that we almost forgot to reminisce just how good of a year in print we had in 2022 at Imageco! We worked with some huge household brand names, saw the team growing with new young talent, and not to mention, we absolutely smashed it when it came to our award wins this year.

So, before we dive too quickly into the new year, we thought we’d take a minute to look back at everything we achieved last year.

Perfect Print Projects

Not to brag, but we produced some amazing work last year, from retail display jobs to interiors and large-scale POS rollouts. One project in particular really stood out from the crowd though, and that was the Sustainability Street exhibition stand we produced for our good friends at Antalis. This project incorporated everything we stand for here at Imageco, the sustainability focus was extremely important to the project, something we love to see from one of our suppliers. Not to mention that we were able to put our cardboard engineering skills to the test with the entire stand being built from cardboard. And as if that wasn’t enough, the stand went on to win us not one, but two awards. The Gold UK Graphics Award for Best Exhibition and the World Exhibition Stands Platinum Award for ‘Best Stand at a Print Event’.

Of course, we couldn’t not mention the work we did on Dr. Martens new Carnaby Street Test and Learn store. Not only was this an amazing opportunity to work with a huge brand name, but it was brilliant to be chosen as the print partner to help Dr. Martens go green with their store interiors. We are seeing a big shift toward brands and individuals searching for more sustainable interiors and we can’t wait to see what other projects pop up.

Expanding the Imageco Team

As the company grows, we need our team to grow with it. We are thrilled to have welcomed four new members of staff over the past year, including two apprentices:

  • Coby in print and finishing
  • Isabel in the Mac studio

Then we have also welcomed:

  • Nathan Euington (the new Nathan) as print finisher
  • Amelia Thomas in accounts

Big Celebrations

We have had a lot to celebrate over the past year, we have seen a huge amount of new client wins, but as always, one of our favourite things to talk about is our award wins, including:

  • UK Graphics Awards Gold for Exhibitions
  • UK Graphics Award Wide Format Print Company of the Year (under 30 employees)
  • UK Graphics Awards Best in Show
  • FSB Community Award

Not to mention that me myself and I (Nathan Swinson-Bullough, Managing Director at Imageco), was named in The Manufacturers Top 100 as an exemplar in the net-zero hero category.

Print Sustainability to Shout About

As always, 2022 saw us putting the same huge focus on sustainability and ensuring we are working in as green a manner as possible. In 2022, we began doing a lot of research into sustainable exhibition and events and with 600,000 tonnes of trash being generated each year by convention attendees, we thought that making stands more sustainable would be a good place to start, thus we began introducing cardboard engineering to our services offering.

We were also thrilled to receive some amazing green certifications this year, we were given the ISO 14001 certification after a vigorous inspection. As always, we are aware that carbon offsetting alone will not solve the climate crisis, but we are pleased to be able to say that last year we planted over 120 trees with the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust

With love to Julie

On a sadder note, it was with a heavy heart and great sadness that we said goodbye to one of our longstanding employees, Julie, who lost her battle with cancer towards the end of 2022.
Anyone that visited Imageco in the past will have been welcomed by Julie’s warm smile and she will be dearly missed by the entire team here at Imageco.
